Remote Broadcasts-Safety & Security Part II

by John Daniels

Chief Security Officer, Securepoint

Safety and security is paramount in remote broadcasts, whether you're broadcasting from a remote location, live event, or even from your home. Having a focus on these areas is crucial to protect the well-being of everyone involved, as well as to maintain the professionalism and integrity of the broadcast itself.

Periodically, we will share best practices from our internal playbook and resources.

Here are some tips to consider when planning for a remote broadcast:

Securepoint Tip Sheet #2

6. Communication: Establish a clear communication plan for the team. This includes communication within the team and with event organizers or authorities if necessary. Ensure that all team members have a way to contact each other and receive updates.

7. First Aid and Medical Kits: Have a well-equipped first aid kit on hand in case of minor injuries. Ensure that someone on the team is trained in basic first aid and CPR.

8. Emergency Evacuation Plan: Develop and communicate an emergency evacuation plan. Make sure everyone knows the exits and the assembly point in case of an emergency.

9. Security: If you're broadcasting in a potentially volatile environment, consider security measures like having a security team, security personnel, or crowd control barriers in place to ensure the safety of your team and equipment.

10. COVID-19 Safety: If your broadcast involves close contact with others, follow local health guidelines and consider safety measures related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, such as mask-wearing, social distancing, and sanitization.
